World Water Day 2014

Saturday, March 22, 2014 , Community Hall, Elmvale (map)

Celebrating the new Elmvale Water Kiosk !

We are so fortunate that the Elmvale area has some of the purest groundwater on the planet. We now have one more reason to celebrate: the completion of the Elmvale Water Kiosk at the artesian flow in Elmvale!

The Elmvale Water Kiosk (44o 35' 37.55" N, 79o 52' 28.98" W) is the new shelter created for the artesian flow on the E side of County Road 27, just 750 m N of the main intersection in Elmvale (Yonge and Queen Streets). Already open for business, please stop by anytime to enjoy our beautiful water all year round. The water has always been free, and always will be !

To inaugurate the new Water Kiosk, the Elmvale Foundation will be holding a special event for World Water Day on March 22, 2014. At the Community Hall in Elmvale, this is an opportunity for us all to acknowledge and thank the donors of the skills and materials to construct the Water Kiosk, and the folks who volunteered their labour. Great efforts were made by individuals, companies, and organizations to create the Water Kiosk, and this is our chance to publicly express our appreciation. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. The program for the event will be announced soon.

World Water Day is an initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro. In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly designated March 22 of each year, to raise awareness about water issues. For more information about World Water Day, visit www.worldwaterday.org.
